New Canada Man Dies in Fort Kent UTV Accident
A New Canada man died in Fort Kent, after losing control of his utility terrain vehicle.
Maine Game Wardens were called to the Black Lake Road in Fort Kent by a person who said they had happened upon an ATV crash. When wardens arrived, they found 30-year-old Travis Haley of New Canada, who was deceased. Officials say he was the sole occupant of the UTV.
An initial investigation indicates that Haley had been driving his UTV south on Black Lake Road when he lost control in a corner. The UTV went into the ditch and struck an embankment, causing it to roll several times. Haley was ejected from the vehicle. Black Lake Road is a dirt road that runs through a series of agriculture fields that also serve as the ATV trail.
Haley's body will be examined by the Medical Examiner. Game Wardens, Maine State Police, and the Fort Kent Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene.
