Maine State Police say Brooke McLaughlin, 14, of Mt. Vernon, was found dead in her home a week ago by her mother. The State Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide and Grant was arrested on Saturday. McLaughlin was a student at Maranacook Community Middle School in Regional School Unit 38.

Did He and the Victim Know Each Other?

According to the BDN, McLaughlin and Grant knew each other. A red Chevrolet Impala that was taken from McLaughlin's home was recovered near Wayne. Grant just finished his 8th-grade year at Maranacook Community Middle School.
