A motorcycle ride out of Bangor on Saturday will help provide gifts for children this Christmas.

The Smile of a Child Christmas Program provides gifts to over 2,000 children each year in and around Penobscot County. While it may seem like it's much too early to think about Christmas, for the organizers who need to collect all those gifts and get them distributed, it's the perfect time to start the donation drive. Kathy Harvey has operated this program for many years, formerly out of her Helping Hands Thrift Store, and now through Discount Mattress and Furniture.

So this Saturday, the Chrome Angelz motorcycle club, Eaglez Spiritz chapter, is holding a ride to benefit the program. Registration is from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. in the back parking lot of Airport Mall, behind Discount Mattress and Furniture. The fee is $20, if you want to take part in the post-ride barbecue, and $15 if you're not going to eat. There's an additional $5 charge for any passengers who are also going to attend the barbecue.

At the end of the ride, there will be food, music, raffles, vendors, and plenty of fun, all for a great cause. Find more information on the Facebook event page.
