A motorcycle ride on Saturday will benefit the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor and the House in the Woods in Lee.

You don't have to be a Veteran, or have any military background, to take part in Saturday's 10th Annual Fallen Soldier ride. A love for riding and a desire to help make life better for Veterans are all that's needed. The Maine chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is hosting the ride that will be followed by a party with food, live music, and raffle items.

The ride will start from the gazebo in Corinna, at the intersection of Route 7 and 48. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and it's kickstands up at 10:00 sharp, with a $20 donation per rider, and an additional $10 per passenger. From Corinna, riders will head through Newport toward Dixmont, through Brooks and Belfast, Searsport into Bucksport, and finally ending in Eddington at the Cold River Campground.

Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor, which provides long-term and residential care, as well as rehabilitation for Maine Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents, and the House in the Woods in Lee. This wilderness camp offers Veterans, as well as active duty military members, and their families an outdoor adventure, including hunting, fishing, swimming, and and nature hikes.
