A Sebago woman, who had been reported missing, was found deceased in her submerged car in the Ossipee River.

The last contact family and friends had from 28-year-old Sarah McCarthy was a phone call Friday night, in which they say she sounded disoriented and didn't seem to know where she was. A search was launched for the woman who was last seen leaving Fairground Pizza and Pub in Cornish on Friday night, after ending her shift.

Just before 1:00 Sunday afternoon, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a person traveling in the area of Elm Street and Federal Road in Parsonsfield noticed a vehicle submerged in the Ossipee River. Once the car was pulled out of the water, emergency responders found McCarthy's body. Investigators say it appears she was traveling westbound on Federal at a high rate of speed when she failed to negotiate a turn. Her vehicle careened off a snowbank and into the river.

The Chief Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause and manner of McCarthy's death, as law enforcement officials continue to investigate.
