A man is facing charges for allegedly firing a gun he found inside someone else's vehicle in Milford.

Milford, Maine, Shooting Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Brian Coston, 44, was arrested on Saturday in Milford.

He's charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a school.

Officials say more charges may be pending.

Milford, Maine, Shooting Allegedly Involved a Firearm Found in a Vehicle

It was just before 1:00 Saturday morning when the Penobscot Regional Communications Center got a 911 call from an individual who lives on County Road in Milford, not far from the Lewis S. Libby School. The 911 caller said they had heard 'very loud bangs' and odd noises outside the house.

He told the dispatcher that he checked his camera(s) and saw a male subject on his property and entering his vehicle.

A Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputy responded and found that a man had allegedly climbed into the 911 caller's vehicle and found a handgun inside. He then, allegedly, discharged the firearm multiple times, causing damage to the vehicle.

The individual then exited the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the firearm behind.

Sometime later, another call to the PRCC, this time from the Freshies store in Milford, reported a man who was yelling. Officials located Mr. Coston and arrested him for the incident on County Road.

There's no report of any injuries in this case.
