A couple of episodes of MeatEater have featured Rinella's red "fish shack" canoe, which has a Maine connection.

Steven Rinella has great taste in canoes. The outdoorsmen recently shared a picture of his red Old Town canoe on Instagram. The post wasn't specific to his canoe preferences, rather focused on a wildlife habitat issue impacting the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. Rinella has a cabin, affectionally known as his "fish shack," in Alaska. A few episodes of MeatEater on Netflix were filmed at the fish shack. Viewers with a sharp eye may have noticed his red Old Town canoe in the episodes.

MeatEater is not only a Netflix show, but also a popular podcast and YouTube channel. The YouTube channel, however, features far more content. The "Das Boat," and "Cal in the Field" series are excellent spin-offs.

Ryan Callaghan filmed an episode here in Maine back in 2020. In the video, he and Brent West of the High Peaks Alliance took to the woods for a grouse and woodcock hunt. Another feature of the channel is the many cooking episodes, teaching hunters how to make superb dishes with their hunted game.

Last year, Steve Rinella took country super-star Luke Combs out for an antelope hunt. Fans were tipped off to the epic hunt when Rinella shared a video of Combs singing "This One's For You" on his Instagram. Since the hunt, the "Cold As You" singer appeared on an episode of the MeatEater podcast. Listen to the full episode here. Fans were left wondering, did cameras roll during the hunt? The question was answered with the arrival of a new season of MeatEater on Netflix.

Episode 1 of season 10 features Combs, along with Dan and Reid Isbell of the Brothers Hunt. The antelope hunt took place in Wyoming, which was a first for Luke. The hunt was successful, with Combs tagging a good-sized buck. Steve admits the hunt wasn't the traditional MeatEater hunt with miles and miles of hiking, hours of glassing game, and remote camping. The ranch was loaded with antelope, so it was really a matter of finding a big fella, and stalking their way within range for a good shot.

15 Must-Have Items For Ice Fishing Season In Maine

Ice fishing is an excellent way to embrace the cold winter months in Maine. It will get you outdoors for some fresh air, it's family friendly, and a successful day could yield a tasty dinner. If you're new to the sport, we put together a list of gear you'll need for a fun, comfortable, and successful day on the ice. Some of these items are more essential than others. Some gear may not be essential at all, depending on how you plan to fish. Again, the items we listed are geared towards those who are new to ice fishing.

Before we get to the list, remember to dress appropriately for the cold weather. We didn't put warm outerwear on the list, but it's definitely a must-have. Dressing in layers is important to ensure you're warm enough throughout the day on the ice. If you start getting too warm, you can simply take a layer off. Hand warmers are also worth packing.

Explore the Ruins of a Historic Mansion in Acadia National Park

George B. Dorr spent much of his life creating, expanding and caring for Acadia National Park. That's why he's often referred to as the father of Acadia National Park. According to the National Park Service, the property known as the "Old Farm" was accepted by the park in 1941. On the property is the ruins of what was a 30-room summer "cottage," the remnants of a saltwater pool, and a small beach. It's just an easy walk through the woods away.
