Man’s Body Found In Skowhegan House Fire

One man is dead following an early morning fire at a duplex in Skowhegan.

The fire was called in at around 1:40 a.m. Friday at a duplex on Milburn Street. One unit of the building sustained significant damage while the other was barely affected.

The victim is Douglas Barrett, 48. His body was found in the kitchen of his two story apartment on Milburn Street.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office will now begin their work, determining how the fire started. Fire Marshals asked State Police detectives to assist them in the investigation, but the fire is not considered suspicious.
