Man’s Body Found Floating In Pond; Accidental Drowning Suspected

The body of a Hope man was discovered Friday floating in a pond in Lincolnville.

Passing motorists spotted the body of Alan Bernardo, 32, of Hope floating in Norton Pond and alerted authorities.

The initial investigation indicates that Bernardo was fishing from a structure along the road side when he fell from the elevated area where he was fishing into the water below, according to police.

The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and will make the final determination on the cause of death.
