A Dixmont man was charged Sunday in connection with a shooting on Hammond Street in Bangor.

Benjamin Bowman, 24, faces felony charges of elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a firearm in connection with the early morning shooting that injured a man.

Police responded to 1100 Hammond Street, the address of Motel 6, at about 2:30 a.m. to a report that a man had been shot during a altercation. Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a Bangor hospital. His injuries are not life threatening, police said.

Police located Bowman at a nearby location at about 10:50 a.m. He was arrested without incident.

The case remains under investigation.
