A Bangor man faces multiple charges after allegedly smashing the window of a local pawn shop, stealing items and fleeing on a bicycle.

Dontrel Jean, 23, of Bangor, was arrested behind a local business Thursday after fleeing from police on two different bicycles.

Police responded to 204 Hammond Street (JG Pawn Shop) at about 6:45 p.m. after a caller reported seeing a man break a window at the pawn shop and grab items before fleeing on a bike.

Officers located Jean as he was riding outbound on Hammond Street. Jean allegedly refused to stop for the officer than disappeared down a side street.

His bicycle was found abandoned a short while later.

A concerned citizen then told police Jean was riding a different bicycle on Larkin Street. An officer caught up with Jean shortly after he turned onto Main Street, but again, Jean did not to stop.

Jean then rode behind a local business but was unable to escape as there was a fence in the back yard. He was taken into custody.

Jean was charged with felony burglary, theft, and refusing to submit to arrest, and violating his bail.
