A driver wasn't seriously hurt when his truck brakes failed and he drove straight off a pier in Southwest Harbor.

Driver Whose Truck Went Off a Maine Pier Suffered a Cut On His Hand

Officials have not released the name of the driver, but the Southwest Harbor Fire Department says he only suffered a cut on his hand. Amazing when you see the condition of his truck.

Fire officials say the man had lost his brakes when he drove across the Dysart's Marina dock and went through the barricade. The truck fell 20 feet to the water below, where the front of it came to rest on a the low tide mud, and the rear of the truck was on the dock.

The driver was able to crawl out of the wreck onto the dock with only a cut on his hand. First responders went to work, laying out an absorbent boom for leaking fluids. Cody Seavey's barge, 'Charles Bradley,' responded and the crew lifted the truck onto the barge. It was then transported to the Manset Dock, where it was loaded onto a DC Towing ramp truck.

The Driver's Cut Was the Only Injury Reported

This entire operation took place on a day when heavy, wet snow had made everything extremely slippery. There were no injuries, other than the driver's cut on his hand.
