More details have been released about the death of a man on Sugarloaf Mountain.

A Snowboarder from Kingfield Died in an Accident on Sugarloaf Mountain

Kendall Willard, 63, of Kingfield, was identified by the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who conducted an autopsy. His cause of death has been ruled blunt force trauma, due to an accident on the mountain Saturday.

The Maine Man Was Trying to Retrieve Something He Dropped From the Chairlift

Mr. Willard was at Sugarloaf Mountain to do some snowboarding when he dropped a glove while on the chair lift. Officials say he then decided to walk down a closed trail to retrieve it.

Willard Ended Up on a Trail That Had Been Closed Due to Slippery Conditions

Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Mark Lopez told WGME-TV that the trail was icy and Willard lost his footing and fell, sliding down the trail about 800 feet into a clump of trees at around 9:00 Saturday morning.
