Maine Police Identify 2 Men Shot in a Vassalboro Apartment House
State Police have released the identities of two men who were shot during an altercation at a Vassalboro apartment house.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says 37-year-old Jeremy Gilley of Vassalboro died as the result of a gunshot wound. His death has been ruled a homicide, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 30-year-old Joshua Bilodeau of Vassalboro was also shot and is now recovering at a local hospital. The name of a third man who was involved in the incident has not been released, but officials say he was not hurt.
Police report that several people were in the apartment house when the shooting took place at approximately 9:12 Monday morning. An argument between two of the building's residents escalated until someone started shooting.
So far, no arrests have been made.
State Police have interviewed witnesses who were inside the building at the time of the shooting and say that everyone is cooperating. The investigation is ongoing and State Police Detectives will be consulting with the Kennebec District Attorney's Office and the Maine Attorney General's Office about what charges will be filed.
