Two people wanted for murder in Texas were arrested this week in York, Maine.
Two People Wanted for Murder in Texas Were Arrested in Maine
The suspects have been identified as:
- Avery E. Stemmons, 22, of Killeen, Texas.
- Karina Gonzalez Barreto, 21, of Killeen, Texas.
Both suspects were transported to the York Police Station for processing and evidence collection before being taken to the York County Jail as fugitives from justice.
York, Maine, Police Saw the Two Texas Fugitives Walking Down the Street
York, Maine Police learned of two murder suspects from Texas on May 19th, who were believed to being the area. An investigation was launched by the York and Wells Police Departments, as well as the U.S. Marshalls Service.

On May 20th, York Patrol Sergeant Bryan Cantara and Officer Crosby were headed to a call when they saw a man and woman matching the last known description of the suspects walking west on York Street.
Maine Police Located a Gun Suspected of Being Used in a Texas Murder
Patrol officers questioned the suspects and positively identified them as the fugitives from Texas. The suspects were cooperative with the officers.
While they were being taken into custody officials located the gun believed to have been involved in the murder and it was taken as evidence.
The warrants were confirmed with Texas officials for murder, arson, and abuse of a corpse.
Both suspects will be York County Jail until they are extradited to Texas to face those charges.
