Three people from New York have been arrested in Maine, suspected of stealing thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise.

All Three Suspects in Thefts at Hannaford and Other Stores are From New York

Brunswick Police arrested the suspects on Wednesday:

  • Marlene Santaella, 29
  • Angie Cubillos, 24
  • Alan Rodriguez, 38

They were each charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and theft by receiving stolen property.

Brunswick Police Say the Group is Allegedly Part of An Organized Retail Theft

Employees at Hannaford called Brunswick Police to report they allegedly saw the trio stealing large amounts of over-the-counter medications and beauty products. Officials found all three suspects in a vehicle located not far from the store, along with approximately $32,000 worth of over-the country medications and merchandise.

An investigation into the incident led the police to suspect the three are participating in an organized retail theft ring. Officials say they've allegedly victimized other stores in Maine.

Two New York Suspects Arrested in Maine are Fugitives From Justice

The suspects were arrested on the theft charges and, when the police learned that Rodriguez and Cubillos were also wanted for allegedly committing similar crimes in California and New Jersey, they were also charged with being fugitives from justice.

All three were taken to the Cumberland County Jail where Rodriguez and Cubillos are being held without bail. Santaella's bail was set at $1,500 cash.
