Maine Spot Named One of the Best Places for XC Skiing in America
There are plenty of great trails for cross-country skiing in North America, but this particular spot in Maine is being rated as one of the best!
Our Pine Tree State is known for its long winters, which can last up to half the year. That’s why so many people here turn to winter activities like cross-country skiing to make the most of the snow. Plus, it’s a great way to stay active during the colder months. Instead of waiting for warmer weather, embracing the winter with something fun can make the season much more enjoyable.
First of all, who determines which ski resorts are the best, and what makes one stand out over another?
U.S. News & World Report compiled a list of the ‘16 Top Resorts in the U.S.’ for cross-country skiing by focusing on outdoor enthusiasts who prefer longer trails over steep downhill slopes. Erin Evans, the Managing Editor of Travel, used her extensive experience to research resorts known for their high-quality trails and amenities. The list highlights resorts with varied trail options, rental equipment, and lessons, considering factors like trail access, snow conditions, and pricing.
Fair enough, now that we understand how this list was decided, which resort in Maine made it into the top rankings?
U.S. News & World Report named Carter's XC Ski Center in Bethel as one of the ‘16 Top Resorts in the U.S.’ for cross-country skiing. The publication had the following to say about their selection:

Visitors can expect spectacular views of the Mahoosuc and Carter-Moriah mountain ranges, among other natural wonders.
