Police have charged a Maine man with assault after an altercation with a Town Selectperson.

Maine Man Faces 2 Assault Charges after Incident with Town Selectperson

Roland Singer, 56, of Liberty, is charged with two counts of simple assault and one count of criminal mischief.

The details of the altercation have not been released, other than that the alleged assault occurred Tuesday night in Waldo County.

Liberty, Maine Town Selectperson Injured in Alleged Assault

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the victim is a member of the Libery Town Selectboard, and that they sustained minor injuries.

Liberty, Maine Selectboard Consults Town Attorney Over Altercation

A public notice on the Facebook page for the Liberty Town Office announced an executive session of the Town Selectboard on Wednesday afternoon to consult with the Town Attorney.

There's been no comment from the town about how the alleged assault happened.
