Maine's Ironman 70.3 Competitors are Super Athletes in an Incredible Race

The Ironman 70.3 is a Triathlon that has competitors racing a total of 70.3 miles, but this is not just a foot race. It starts with a 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, which is followed by a 56-mile bike ride along the Kennebec River Trail, and is finished with a 13.1-mile run along the Kennebec River Rail Trail.

Ironman competitions are held around the world, with competitors vying for qualifying times, so they can compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, being held November 8, 2025, in Marbella, Spain.

Maine Ironman 70.3 Will Require Road Closures Over the Weekend in Augusta

The event in Augusta is scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2025, beginning at 6 a.m. Temporary road closures will be necessary for the safety of the racers and to allow room for the competition to take place.

The City of Augusta has listed the roads that will be affected by the race, so drivers can plan ahead and not get stuck in traffic.
