A former inmate at the Washington County Jail who was charged with manslaughter in the death of an Eastport man is now facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly attacking a corrections officer.

Hazen McDugald, 40, of Eastport, has been indicted by a Washington County grand jury on charges of aggravated attempted murder and assault on an officer. McDugald is accused of assaulting a corrections officer at the Washington County Jail in February. The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

McDugald was arrested and charged with manslaughter after Maurice Harris, 75, was found dead in his Clark Street home on September 10, 2015.
