
Bangor and Lewiston Maine Hospitals Coping With Cyber Attack
Two Maine hospitals, owned by Covenant Health, are experiencing issues with their phone and internet systems.
Some Covenant Health Facilities in Maine are Dealing With Cyber Issues
Everything runs on computers, and it's not unusual for a company to have problems with online systems. However, when a hospital's technical systems are disrupted, it can cause issues that spread throughout the facility, prompting concerns over adequate patient care.

Two Covenant Health healthcare facilities in Maine are experiencing these types of issues. St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor and St. Mary's Health Systems in Lewiston both have the same notification on their websites:
(Hospital name) is currently experiencing a temporary system issue that may affect phones and internet access. Some services may be intermittently unavailable.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911.
The notification also says experts are working around the clock to resolve the issues.
Covenant Health's Cyber Problems Extend Beyond Their Maine Facilities
Covenant Health owns five facilities in Maine:
- St Joseph's Hospital in Bangor
- St. Mary's Health System in Lewiston
- St. Mary's D'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston
- St. Andre Healthcare in Biddeford
- Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bangor

The only facilities in Maine reporting disruptions in their internet and phone systems are St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Mary's Health Systems. St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire, is among hospitals in other states reporting online and phone issues.
Maine Hospital is Going Old School for Information Until the Issue is Resolved
One person who visited St. Joseph's Hospital this week said the staff wrote out their patient information by hand. They were told that, once the systems are functional again, all that data will be entered into the computers.
