Here comes the North Woods Throwdown 2023

Maine Game Wardens versus New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation officers.

Yes, many from both teams have appeared on the popular North Woods Law television series.

And for those who think this is just a casual, who cares game, please know that each team does want to win. It's not an "All Star Game" attitude. They want to win enough to actually practice.

The game will take place Friday July 28th at 6 p.m. at Hadlock Field in Portland. Home of the Portland Sea Dogs and named one of the best minor league parks in America. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Tickets are available here or you can get them at the stadium on game day. The tickets are only $10.

The proceeds will go to Operation Game Thief, a non profit organization that assists the warden service in various ways.

Maine Warden Nick Johnson said:

We want a lot of Mainers in the stands and we need you to get loud and help us bring home the win. This is an opportunity to see the game wardens in a different light than their day jobs, and they are looking forward to interacting with the kids and fans at the game.

This year of course Maine will win, but remember that no matter who wins, the purpose is for a fun experience for the fans, and to raise money for Operation Game Thief.

Game Warden Aaron Cross explains the fund-raising purpose:

OGT puts all its money into assisting Game Wardens with fighting poaching. They are a non-profit and give reward money to people who report fish and game crimes. They also purchase equipment for us that helps us do our job more efficiently.

In the past, Maine OGT has donated a portion of the funds raised at this event to other charities like Make a Wish, or Outdoor Dreams Foundation.
