Maine Fall Event To Mark On The Calendars, Great Maine Apple Day
As we sit sweltering in the heat and humidity of August, maybe you are starting to think about the cooler, crisp weather that fall brings with it. Kids will be starting school soon and the turn of the weather and season will be coming right around the corner.
If you are already set for the fall season here in Maine, then mark this quintessential fall experience here in Maine happening Sunday, October 17.
'Great Maine Apple Day' will be taking place Sunday, October 17, and is being hosted by Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. It's an event that honors the love of apples here in Maine by celebrating the taste and history of the fruit.
The event will take place at the MOFGA Education Center in Unity and feature cider pressing, educational workshops, and kids activities. The event will go four hours starting at noon and doors open at 11:30 AM.
Admission is $4 for the general public with children getting in for free. If you are a Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association member, you get in for $2.
The event is being put on by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Fedco, and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
Maine is home to dozens of orchards across the state. To find an orchard closest to you, visit the Maine Pomological Society page and search the map to find your fall excursions to take on when apple season comes around.
