LawnStarter’s 2025 report on the most flood-vulnerable counties ranked 943 counties using 11 metrics grouped into four categories: Flood Risk, Economic Impact, Population Vulnerability, and Preparedness. Each metric was weighted by importance, scored out of 100, and averaged into an overall score to determine rankings, with No. 1 being the most vulnerable and No. 943 the least.

With that in mind, which county in Maine was recently ranked as one of the most prepared in the country when it comes to flooding?

According to LawnStarter and their recent report highlighting ‘2025’s Most Vulnerable Counties for Flooding,’ Sagadahoc County ranked 35th in the country under the category for ‘Preparedness.’

As part of the Portland–South Portland Metropolitan Area, Sagadahoc County ranked 897th overall in the nation for flood vulnerability, despite being right next to the Atlantic Ocean.

With a population of more than 37,000 people as of 2024, it’s clear why being prepared is so important.
