A bus driver in the Bath  was charged with violation of privacy after investigators say he took illegal "upskirt" photos of female students while transporting students to and from school and to and from special events.

Timothy McGowan, 50, of Bath then uploaded the photos to a foreign website, according to police.

Through the course of the investigation, images of six female students from elementary, middle school and high school ages were identified by police and school staff from RSU1 and West Bath School.

McGowan was interviewed by investigators and several of his electronic devices were searched by the Computer Crimes Unit of the Maine State Police. Images found on his devices were the same as ones uploaded on the foreign website, police said. All the images have been removed from the website.

McGowan has been placed on leave by the Bath Bus Service and is not currently driving a school bus. McGowan had no previous criminal convictions.

His court date is scheduled for July 17 at the West Bath District Court in West Bath.
