Missing Maine Man Found in the Water off Blue Hill

Hancock County authorities say the body of a missing elderly man from Blue Hill has been located in the water.

Blue Hill, Maine Man Missing for Over a Week Has Been Located

James Kannry, 82, of Virginia and Blue Hill, Maine, was reported missing on September 20, 2026.

Hancock County Sheriff's Office Investigators looked into the disappearance and, based on their findings, determined that it was likely Mr. Kannry had fallen into the water from his boat.

The Maine Marine Patrol Searched for Missing Blue Hill Man Believed to Be in the Water

Maine Marine Patrol and Hancock County Sheriff's Department personnel spent several days searching for Mr. Kannry.

The Maine Marine Patrol used boats, a remotely controlled underwater vehicle, and aircraft but, despite their best efforts, couldn't locate him.

Missing Blue Hill, Maine Man's Body Recovered Miles From Where He Fell In

On September 29, 2026, the Hancock County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call about a body in the water in Blue Hill.

The caller said the individual was located approximately five miles out from where it's believed Kannry fell in.

Several agencies responded to the location and recovered the man's body.

Officials confirmed that it was Mr. Kannry.
