
Man’s Body Recovered From the Water Off Bar Island in Maine
The search for a missing man in Acadia National Park ended with the recovery of his body.
Missing Man's Body Found in Acadia National Park, Maine
The name of the 25-year-old man has not been released. HIs body was recovered from the water off Bar Island in Acadia National Park.
Officials began looking for the man on Wednesday afternoon, when it was reported to the Bar Harbor Police Department that someone may have been stranded on Bar Island.
Responders were unable to find him so the search stretched into the night, with help from K-9 teams.
Maine Searchers Find Missing Man's Body in the Ocean near Bar Island
Thursday morning, searchers were back at it, with assistance from the National Park Service, Maine Marine Patrol, Maine State Police, and Maine Warden Service.
Late Thursday morning, the man's body was located in the water near Bar Island, in Acadia National Park.
The National Park Service is leading the investigation into the death.
More information is expected in the coming days.

People often get stranded on Bar Island, after walking across the sand bar that stretches from the mainland. Once the tide comes in, people will be stuck on the island until they're rescued or low tide allows them walking access once again.
