It's great news for Mainers who have health insurance through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. An agreement has been reached with Northern Light Health, four days after the November 1, 2025, deadline.
Had an agreement not been met, Northern Light providers could have been considered 'out of network' to Anthem patients.
Contract Agreement Announced Between Northern Light Health and Anthem
On Wednesday evening, November 5, 2025, Northern Light Health announced that the two parties had reached an agreement and that their facilities would once again provide in-network access to all Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield patients.
The new agreement applies to Anthem members across Maine who rely on Northern Light Health for comprehensive, community-based care.
Northern Light Health President and CEO R. Guy Hudson, M.D., says the agreement will allow Mainers with Anthem insurance to continue receiving high-quality care from providers they know and trust.

Maine Anthem Patients Will See No Lapse in Coverage at Northern Light Health
The multi-year contract takes effect retroactively to November 1, 2025, meaning all care delivered since then will be treated as in-network for Anthem members.
The details of the specific contractual arrangement have not been released due to confidentiality agreements.
