Maine’s Reputation Still Soars Amongst Closures: Ranked 6th Least Hated State in the U.S.
Lately, it doesn't feel like Maine is progressing too well as we continue to watch all our favorite restaurants close their doors for different reasons. In fact, it almost feels like the apocalypse in some ways, but i promise there are other ways Maine still thrives in. I might be biased because I love this beautiful place, but it seems zippia and their list of least hated states also agrees with me.
I could come up with 100 reasons why I love to live in Maine "Vacation Land", but I'll give you the top 3 that, in my opinion, have most likely contributed to us being voted into the top 10 least hated category.
1. Nature. From Acadia National Park, to Batson River, you can drive for 20 minutes at the very least in any direction and still find yourself completely indulged in the woods. It's freeing and unlike places like Arizona, Maine will always show you a body of water.
2. Everything is very chillax. Maine doesn't have the chaos and that go-go-go feeling that big cities give you when you hop off the subway stop in the middle of town surrounded by tons of humans. Though as we know, Maine's population seemingly increased ever since the pandemic.
3. Local friendly demeanor. Mainer's are overly-friendly. If you've lived here for long enough, you realize that the people that live here extend a helping hand without being asked to. More often than not, I've run into situations where a stranger has been more helpful to me than somebody I've known for years in Boston. You won't find that in many places, so I cherish it.
Overall, Zippia says "most people have great things to say about this state vs. others", and if you're interested just how Zippia calculated their list, Read more here.
