With sunshine and warmer temps creeping into the forecast these days, a lot of folks are thinking about spending more time outside. And with the temptation of a nice sunny day and the smell of fresh-cut grass, one thing a lot of people get excited about in Eastern Maine is the opening of our area golf courses.

While some have started their season early this year, there are some that will be opening soon. Here's the scoop on who's taking tee times at the moment.

Hermon Meadow got a jump start on the 2022 golf season, opening up their course on March 25th this year, as did the Sunday River Golf Club.

The Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono opened for its season on April 4th.

Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor opened this past Monday, April 18th.

The Bangor Municipal Golf Course opened this week.

Lucerne Golf Club in Dedham opened Friday, too, with a Senior Scramble scheduled for Monday, with golf carts if the course stays dry enough.

They put the "Open" sign out at the Hampden Country Club Friday, but management tells us folks have already been golfing for the past few weeks.

Rocky Knoll Golf Club in Orrington is set to open, bright and early at 7:30 this Saturday morning.

The folks at the Bucksport Golf Club say they've been open, and had members playing through the winter, since 2020. It's still walking only until the ground dries up a little.

The Samoset Resort in Rockport is holding off another week and will open for its golfing season on April 29th.

Meanwhile, the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club will officially start its season Sunday, May 1st.

At the Sugarloaf Golf Club, you can start reserving your tee times on June 1st.
