An Argument Between 2 Men in Liberty Ends With 1 Shot, 1 Arrested
A Liberty man is facing charges after allegedly shooting another man in the arm.
James Billings, 68, of 926 Pinnacle Road in Liberty is charged with elevated aggravated assault after an incident at his residence. The Waldo County Communication Center received a 911 call on Saturday for a report of a person who had been shot with a firearm on the Pinnacle Road, according to Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office.
Members of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, and Maine Warden's Service responded to the address and determined that Billings had been involved in a verbal argument with another man who had been living at the same residence.
The argument escalated to the point where Mr. Billings allegedly shot the other man in the arm with a handgun. The victim, whose name has not been released, left the home and traveled to a neighbor's residence to get help. He was transported to the Waldo County General Hospital by Liberty Ambulance, where he was treated and released.
James Billings was taken to the Waldo County Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held with no bail allowed.
