A Lewiston woman who had more than 60 animals seized from her home will ask a judge today to return all of them to her.

WMTW-TV reports authorities had been investigating Samantha Bell since 2013 and last week they took action. Police and Animal Control officers searched her apartment at 116 Howe Street, looking for evidence of animal cruelty and neglect.

By the time their search was over, they had removed 65 animals from the apartment, including dogs, cats, hamsters, chinchillas, snakes, and lizards. One animal was dead, while others needed medical attention. All of the animals, most of which were cats, are currently in shelters.

Now, Bell wants all of them returned to her. She told authorities that she took in animals that no one else wanted and gave them a good home. The investigation is ongoing.
