A man suspected in a Lewiston murder has been located and taken into custody.

Who is the Suspect Accused of Killing?

Maine police agencies began looking for Eddie Massie, 40, of Lewiston after a woman's body was found in a hallway of an apartment building in that city Sunday night, December 11th. The woman's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and an autopsy was performed. As a result of that examination, the woman was identified as Lacresha Howard, 25, of Lewiston and her death was ruled a homicide. The cause of her death has not been revealed by police.

Is This the Man Police Said Residents Should Not Approach?

Officials launched a search for Massie, appealing to the public to keep their eyes open. Police said they considered him armed and dangerous, so anyone who saw him should not approach him.

Where Did They Find Him?

On Thursday, December 15th, the Maine State Police Tactical Team executed a search warrant at 154 Allen Pond Road in Greene. While searching the property, they found Massie and arrested him on an outstanding warrant for murder. He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail and will be held without bail until his initial court appearance.

The search warrant was the result of a collaborative investigation between the Maine State Police and Lewiston Police. A motive for the murder has not been released.
