A Maine woman has died from injuries she sustained when she was hit by a pickup truck in Lewiston.

44-Year-Old Lewiston Woman Died After Being Hit by a Pickup

Jessica Sawyer, 44, of Lewiston, was hit by a vehicle as she crossed Main Street in that city. Officials say she was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The Driver of the Pickup Cooperating With the Police

Lewiston Police were called to the area of 391 Main Street for a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash. When officers arrived, they found Sawyer and the vehicle's driver, 31-year-old Jordan Blais of Auburn, both at the scene. Sawyer had suffered critical injuries.

Ms. Sawyer was immediately transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where was was pronounced deceased.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash indicated that Sawyer had been crossing Main Street when she was hit by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Blais. Officials say Blais was traveling inbound when the crash happened.

Lewiston Police Say Weather and Road Conditions May Have Contributed to the Crash

Main Street was closed for several hours while police investigated and reconstructed the crash. The initial investigation suggests that weather/road conditions may have contributed.
