Old Video of Lebron James and Cooper Flagg Goes Viral Again

Following the Maine native’s NBA preseason debut, a video of LeBron James and Cooper Flagg from years ago has reemerged.

The first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and the first overall pick from the 2003 NBA Draft will hopefully cross paths on the court several times during the 2025–26 NBA season, with Flagg’s Mavericks set to face James’ Lakers on November 28, January 24, February 12, and April 5.

These upcoming Dallas vs. Los Angeles matchups won’t be the first time Cooper Flagg and LeBron James have crossed paths.

An old video, originally posted to social media on July 7th, 2023, shows James offering advice to Flagg after an AAU game, where Flagg was playing for a team from Maine.

There are already a few interesting parallels between Cooper Flagg and LeBron James, even at this early stage of Flagg’s career.

Not only has Flagg’s all-around game drawn comparisons to James in terms of playmaking, defense, and scoring, but both also share the distinction of being the youngest players ever drafted No. 1 overall—James at 18 years and 178 days in 2003, and Flagg at 18 years and 186 days in 2025.
