Whether they’re here for the ocean, the forests, the fresh air, or—since we’re talking about lakes today—our beautiful lakes, visitors quickly see why Maine is the perfect place to escape and explore.

Well, with that in mind, how do we determine which lakes are considered the most beautiful in America in 2025? And, at the end of the day, what really makes one lake more beautiful than another?

The travel experts at loveEXPLORING ranked what they believe to be the 25 most beautiful lakes in the United States, considering factors such as size, scenery, and unique features. Their list highlights a mix of iconic spots and potentially some lesser-known gems.

Now that we’ve cleared that up—did any lakes in Maine make loveEXPLORING’s list of the most beautiful lakes in America for 2025?

According to loveEXPLORING and their list of 'America’s most beautiful lakes, ranked,' Maine didn’t have a single lake make the cut. That’s just objectively wrong because Maine is home to some of the most stunning lakes in the country, like Sebago Lake, Echo Pond, and Moosehead Lake. Clearly, whoever made this list needs to take a trip to our Pine Tree State!

Well, that’s that. Not a single lake in Maine was mentioned on this list—and that just doesn’t seem right.
