Green beer is overrated. But I did pick up my own corned beef to boil for St Patrick’s Day.

Looks like I won’t be alone. There was a short line at the corned beef section as some customers  have to handle each and every package before they finally pick the first one they touched. Hope your hands are clean. Glad you’re wearing a mask. Not that I am accusing you of spreading the ‘rona onto a plastic package. That would be sac-religious, being St Patrick’s Day and all.

Geaghan’s in Bangor announced its not having its St Patrick’s Day bash like they usually do. But in a great community gesture they will cook dinner for the area's homeless population and the staff will deliver at least 50 corned beef meals today to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. Tip of the hat to Geaghan's Pub.

Other area restaurants, pubs, bars will have to socially distance and observe ‘Rona rules that restrict a true St. Patrick’s Day party like pre 2020.

The city of Chicago dyes the Chicago River green for St. Patty's Day. Last year they cancelled the event. This year they said they weren't going to dye the river this year because they didn't want the crowds gathered on all the bridges and the streets witnessing the event. However, secretly last weekend, they dyed the river 'a greener shade of the green it already is'.  Budweiser is going green for St Patrick's Day announcing an initiative to brew all beer with renewable energy by 2030.

In an online national poll done by TellWut  when asked how we’d be celebrating St Patrick’s Day this year only 2% said they’d got out to a bar or any get together that has multiple attendees. Almost a third said they wear green. Thirteen percent eat corned beef and cabbage. And please if you are not already, sit down for this statistic, only 9% will be drinking alcoholic beverages Wednesday. Five percent will have a pint of Guinness. So when one analyzes this survey, St Patrick’s Day isn’t a big deal anyway. Even though there are seven times more Irish people in American than there are in Ireland.

Make sure you’re listening to Q106.5 anyway. Who knows if The Irish Rovers get played. The Unicorn. Finnegnan’s Wake. Wasn’t That A Party. Fun songs even during a pandemic.
