A popular hiking trail on Mt. Katahdin will remain closed this season.

The Dudley Trail up Mt. Katahdin will not be open for the 2019 season. The Portland Press Herald reports park crews have been facing difficult working conditions while attempting to relocate the 1.3 mile trail. The goal was to have the trail reopened in 2018.

The trail was damaged by a rock slide in 2016.

The Dudley is a popular but difficult trail that connects Katahdin’s Baxter Peak summit with two other summits.
