Some country singers can sing the phone book and make it sound good, but when Josh Turner sings the 'Find Me a Baby' lyrics -- his brand new single -- it pulls on the heartstrings of the listener like no other. Turner penned the tune with his long-time record producer, Frank Rogers, when the two began work on the singer's latest studio album, 'Punching Bag.'

"That was kind of right in the thick of me preparing for the 'Punching Bag' record," Turner tells Taste of Country of the writing process that led to the birth of 'Find Me a Baby.' "Frank and I had written together before, but we've never had a cut together on any of my records. We were making an effort to try and get together and write some good stuff for this record.

"He came in one day with this idea, and he was like just let me know if you like it," Turner continues. "He said, if you like it, you can help me finish it, if not we can move on and start something else. When I heard it, it just sounded so different for me -- different from anything I've ever done. It was such an upbeat, positive message, and it just sounded fun. I was like, 'Shoot ... let's just try it and see what happens.'"

"I was sitting on a creek bank, bored out of my mind / Casting away a day, a week, a month of my whole life / And then it hit me like a ten pound catfish upside my head / Nothing's worth doing if I'm doing it all by myself," they wrote in the opening lyrics.

"We just went from there," Turner says. "We dove right in and started writing this story about this guy who was going through this natural progression in his life where he was just yearning for something more. He was doing a lot of things in his life, but a lot of things he was doing, he was doing by himself. It wasn't as fulfilling as it used to be. He wanted somebody to share it with and somebody to live his life with."

"I need to laugh with somebody and hear them laughing back / I need to share all I’ve got and put a couple more trains on this old track / This singing solo’s gettin’ so old to me / Gonna find me a baby and make a couple babies and sing in harmony," they wrote in infectious 'Find Me a Baby' chorus lyrics.

"The song is something that obviously hits home with me and probably with a lot of other guys out in the world," explains the singer-songwriter. "I felt like it would be a good message for me to convey, so that's what we did, and it turned out great."
