There's no shortage of trucks on the roads throughout the great state of New Hampshire. Pickup trucks are pretty popular, as they can brave the harsh elements that our winters bring, and are often a staple of many outdoor activities in New Hampshire like hunting and fishing (and Lovin' Everyday...sorry, I had to).

When the weather is warm, I often see people and dogs riding in the beds of pickup trucks in New Hampshire. I always think to myself, "is that safe?", and furthermore, "is that legal?" Since we live in a day in age where the answers to most questions are just a Google search away, here's what the internet told me:

According to a site called hardworkingtrucks.com, laws governing passenger transport in truck beds vary from state to state. New Hampshire is one of 20 states that have no laws prohibiting passenger transport in a truck bed.

I mean, are we surprised? "Live Free or Die", right?! We are in the company of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming when it comes to states that have no laws against humans riding in truck beds.

For our neighbors in Maine, it's a different story. Apparently, Maine is the only state in the country where you have to be 19 or older to ride in a truck bed legally! More on that here.
