The Chevrolet Camaro was rolled off the assembly line for the first time in 1966, and according to Wikipedia, it was built as a competitor to the popular Ford Mustang.

Since then there have been six generations of Camaros, and it appears that there won't be a seventh generation.

The second-generation Camaro was introduced to the world in 1970, and a television commercial campaign filmed in Bar Harbor, Maine, showed off the 1972 Camaro.

If you ignore the car and just look at the surroundings you can easily see that this is Bar Harbor even though it looks somewhat different now than it did when the commercial ran over 50 years ago.

This is a great vintage film.

This was the time before digital recording and tape recording. This was shot on film and even has the spinning countdown clock at the beginning that counts down to the point where the commercial begins.

I wish I was more familiar with the Bar Harbor area because I think it would be fun to see what the filming locations in the Camaro commercial look like today.

As for the Camaro, according to an article from Zeigler Chevrolet in Schaumburg, Illinois, as of January 2024, the Chevrolet Camaro is no longer being manufactured, but the Chevy Camaro name isn't going away.

Chevrolet so far hasn't given any more info on what they will do with the Camaro, but with a history of 59 years and six generations, it sounds like a new vehicle may inherit the Camaro name.
