An incident that had a local school and daycare in lockdown Thursday morning, has ended with an arrest.

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, said Sheriff's Officers were approached by a woman just before 9 AM at their office, who claimed that a man armed with a gun, had threatened her and had allegedly shot at a house on Henderson Lane in Milford. They then learned that he had left that property, and was possibly still armed.

"Law enforcement was promptly dispatched to the home. Additional resources were provided to the Milford school and a nearby daycare. Deputies remained present at both locations throughout the incident. While waiting for additional resources to arrive, dispatch received information that the suspect might be walking on County Road in Milford. Deputies quickly responded and took the man into custody without incident."

As a precaution, the Dr. Lewis S. Libby School, which sits on School Street, just off the County Rd, was put on lockdown as was a daycare center.

Authorities say the man did not have a weapon on him when they picked him up.

Police presence was understandably high in town, as members of all the local law enforcement agencies worked together to protect the town, including local police, Penobscot County Sheriffs and the Maine State Police. They will continue to be on site throughout the day as they investigate the incident.

It's expected that authorities will release the suspects identity at a later day.

Thankfully no one was injured during the events that took place in Milford on Thursday.
