Bangor, Maine Now has its Own Cheech & Chong Weed Store

When discussing weed, is there anyone more iconic than Cheech & Chong?

Even when I was a kid, and essentially had no idea what weed was, I certainly knew who Cheech & Chong were. As a child of the 70s/80s, they were basically the benchmark for any pop culture reference to marijuana. Cheech & Chong were obviously the prototypes of Beavis & Butthead.

That was the level of pop culture icon status they possessed back then. The movies were legendary. The skits. The songs. To this day, I can still recite almost every word to Earache My Eye.

Now you can legally buy weed from Cheech & Chong in Bangor.

It's true. I mean, it does sound like something right out of a stoner's joke book, but you can literally now buy weed from the world's most famous potheads. The store is located on the corner of Hammond and Union Streets in Bangor, where until now, was the location of East Coast Gold, who are in this partnership with the C&C Weed Factory.

There's no word at the moment if Cheech and Chong will come to the Bangor area like they did when they opened another store in Portland this past October. I imagine that if they decided to head up this way in person, there would likely be a line around the block and down the street. We'll see if that happens here...

This is not Maine's first celebrity cannabis partnership.

A while back, Big Papi announced he was introducing his personal line of cannabis products in partnership with a cannabis dispensary here in Maine. There will likely be more to follow as well, as cannabis becomes much more socially acceptable in the United States.

Almost 40 states have legalized it for medical use, and 24 states have legalized it for recreational use. So there's obviously a growing (no pun intended) market for cannabis. Expect to see more celebrities hawking their personal brands, or brands they endorse. Let's face it, weed is the new beer. And there's money to be made...
