Legendary Blues Powerhouse, Rocker Bonnie Raitt, Will Play The Bangor Waterfront This Summer
Legendary blues rocker, Bonnie Raitt, will be coming to Bangor this August and I couldn't be more excited!

Raitt will take the stage at the Maine Savings Amphitheater with special guest Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band, on Thursday, August 28.
Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, February 7th, at 10 AM Eastern Standard Time, with the pre-sale starting on Thursday 2/6 at 10 AM. The pre-sale code is VOLUME.
I vividly remember the first time I ever heard Bonnie Raitt. She was spitting musical wisdom with her amazing cover of the Sippy Wallace tune, "Women Be Wise" on her self-titled debut album.
The way she interpreted the blues with her raw, raspy but still somehow sweet voice cut right to the heart of my formative brain, and I thought, "Now that's a gutsy broad. I like her vibe."
Then I heard the woman play the guitar, and by jaw dropped to the floor.
A powerhouse in a tiny package, her fiery red hair matches her personality. With her signature cool style, Raitt has spent decades playing with blues and rock legends, only to become one in her own right due to her skill, her grit, and her ability.
B.B. King has called the woman "best damn slide player working today" if that's saying anything.
In a mostly male-dominated industry and genre, Raitt has earned the respect of most in the industry with not just her skill and mastery of guitar and vocals, but her vulnerability and rawness of her lyrics and her interpretation of the songs she performs.
Just take a listen to her duet with legendary singer John Prine, and you'll see what I mean.
She's been nominated for 30 Grammys and won just over a dozen for her work, and often uses her platform as a musician to bring awareness to causes she's passionate about.
Raitt has collaborated and toured with some iconic musicians including BB King, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Bryan Adams, Warren Zevon, and Keb Mo.
I saw her many years ago when she came to the Merrill Auditorium with Mark Cohn. It was an intimate venue, and they both did a great job connecting with the audience.
But I know what this woman is capable of, and as amazing as she is in small setting, I can't wait to see what this powerhouse does with a crowd of thousands at the Maine Savings Amphitheater this summer.
