Cops Say A Verbal Argument On Harlow St. In Bangor Led To Gunshots Wednesday
What started as a verbal argument on Wednesday evening in Downtown Bangor turned violent, authorities say, when one person shot another with a firearm.
According to Det. Lieutenant Brent Beaulieu of Bangor Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, the incident took place around 9:30 PM in the area of 190 Harlow Street, near a local night club, the Public Library, and some residential apartments.
"911 calls were made to the Bangor Police Department reporting gunshots in the area... Arriving police officers located one male at that location suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported by Bangor Fire to a local hospital where he is being treated for a non-lifethreatening injuries."
Det. Beaulieu says the investigation is ongoing, but the initial reports point to a verbal altercation that grew into a physical fight when someone brandished a gun and started shooting. He specifies that there's no ongoing threat to the public as a result of the shooting.
That same spot was the location of another shooting just 3 years ago, in April of 2022, in which another person was shot at 190 Harlow Street.
Four Maine men and one from New York were charged in that incident.
Det. Beaulieu says no more details will be released at this time. We will update the story as information becomes available.
