With Halloween happening THIS SATURDAY, spooky season is almost here! But unfortunately, there's some sad news for Maine's haunted house fans.

After several seasons of screams, scares, and unforgettable nights in the dark, Farmington Fright Fest is closing its doors for good. That means its three haunted attractions will not be returning this year,or in the years to come.

The event was voted one of the scariest Halloween attractions in the state of Maine, earning a reputation for delivering plenty of frights and unforgettable nights for Halloween fans.

Since 2021, Farmington Fright Fest has brought three spine-tingling weekends of terror to western Maine, giving local thrill-seekers something to look forward to every fall. For many, it became a Halloween tradition and a must-visit destination for anyone looking to get their scare on.

Kind of a bummer, right? Especially with Halloween just days away!

Thankfully, there are still plenty of spooky spots throughout New England where you can get your fright fix, including some great options right here in the Bangor area.

Maineiac Manor is located in the former Hollister location in the Bangor Mall, directly across from Spencer's. The 6,500-square-foot attraction has become a destination for anyone looking for a good scare.

Its spooky fun doesn't stop when Halloween is over, either. Maineiac Manor has offered a Krampus-themed Christmas haunted house in December and plans to bring visitors a regular schedule of creepy events and seasonal fun throughout the year.

When you visit, you'll encounter mesmerizing sets, handmade props, and actors in killer costumes hiding in the shadows — and sometimes right out in plain sight, ready to make you jump out of your skin!

And don't sleep on New Hampshire!

Haunted Overload, located in Lee, is one of the most distinctive haunted attractions in New England. It's an enormous outdoor experience built directly into the landscape, featuring gigantic homemade monsters, elaborate structures, eerie lighting, and larger-than-life Halloween scenery.

It's a whole different experience from a traditional haunted house. Instead of walking from room to room, you'll make your way through an outdoor world filled with enormous creatures and elaborate sets. The sheer scale is part of what makes Haunted Overload so memorable, and worth the drive for serious Halloween fans.

So, while we're sad to see Farmington Fright Fest go, Halloween isn't over just yet. With the big night arriving this Saturday, there's still time to squeeze in one more spooky adventure!
