The Tiller, is a bright and inviting oceanfront dining destination, suspended over the Atlantic Ocean and overlooking panoramic views of Cape Neddick. They offer the quintessential Maine experience in Nubb's Lobster Shack, and provide fuel for a days worth of adventures at Bald Head Coffee.

Seasonal breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus are always prepared with farm-fresh Maine produce, line-caught fish, locally raised steaks, and homemade recipes passed down from generation to generation in their restaurant.

Most of this history comes from The Cliff House itself. It is located on 70 oceanfront acres on Bald Head Cliff, just over an hour north of Boston.

Elsie Jane Weare, wife of Captain Theodore Weare, opened the Cliff House in 1872. The hotel was built using wood from the Weare family's land and milled in their sawmill in Ogunquit.

The Cliff House was a favorite of wealthy families, back in the day, where guests enjoyed activities like croquet, horseshoe pitching, and card parties.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers took over the property during World War II, and used it as a radar station to search for Nazi submarines.

In 2000, the Cliff House underwent a major expansion that included a new lobby, conference room, retail space, fitness center, spa, and many new guest rooms, then in 2016, the Cliff House became a year round destination for the first time in its history.

The resort now offers winter activities like beachfront snowshoeing and has plans to add an ice rink.
