When it comes to being a Swiftie, it's something that we take pretty seriously, am I right?

As you can imagine, we were all pretty taken aback when we initially saw footage of a man from Texas smashing a signed Taylor Swift acoustic guitar with a claw hammer. And, not only did he smash the guitar into oblivion, he paid $4,000 for it moments before he destroyed it.

According to WFAA Dallas, the live auction was part of a large fundraiser for Future Farmers of America. The hammer-wielding man is apparently from South Texas and used the moment to protest celebrities and their influence over political matters.

Even though the man paid a whopping $4,000 for an autographed Taylor Swift guitar that he smashed to pieces, WFAA is reporting that the guitar was never actually played by Taylor Swift... as if that is a consolation prize to us Swifties.

Ellis County Wild Game spokesperson, Craig Meier, told WFAA in part,

“It has been surprising to me how big of a deal people are making it out to be. It wasn’t meant to be mean or malicious. He was just making a lighthearted statement showing disapproval of people in the entertainment industry trying to influence politics."

You can see how the demolition all unfolded at the auction below.
