Nelson's Bike After The Crash

I'll be honest with ya, after the motorcycle crash with the deer last Saturday (August 25), my leg pain had gotten a bit worse.  I decided--let take me take that back--Shirley decided that it was time for me to see a doctor, so off I went to Walk-in-Care at EMMC on Union St. in Bangor. They really should have changed the sign to Limp-in-Care. I was hurtin'.

Registered Nurse, Cheryl; P.A. Nick; and Radiologist Seth were all so nice. Come to find out I may have torn the MCL on the inside of my knee, and apparently I've pulled some calf muscles too. Some pain meds and few instructions and I was on my way home to cook up some tenderloin strips on the grill.

But while I was waiting for the P.A., State Farm Insurance called to deliver the bad news--the Honda Shadow is totaled.  To look at the bike you wouldn't think it was all that bad, but replacement parts cost too much, not to mention labor charges.

So ends the saga of my motorcycle adventure for the summer. The season for riding is running short and I don't want to make a hasty decision when it comes to buying another bike.

Steve Salisbury at Friend and Friend took the picture of me weeping over my baby. Thanks, buddy. I had to go back and remove the license plate and a couple of brackets. And Steve, being the professional salesperson that he is, got me to sit on a 2008 Suzuki C50.  My word it's beautiful! And it purrrsss like kitten.

Now if I can just get my bride to....
