Infant Survives Fatal Winslow Car Accident
A Waterville woman and infant survived a single-car crash that killed the driver.
Winslow Police say the accident happened just after 12:30 Sunday morning on the Augusta Road. Crews were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash and found a Chevy Impala that was approximately 90 feet off the roadway.
The driver, 52-year-old Gabriel Stuart of Waterville, and two passengers were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. Stuart died at the scene. 29-year-old Tiffany Hulbert of Waterville was transported to Thayer Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released. An infant, that had been secured in a child safety seat, was also taken to the hospital, but was later transported to Maine Medical Center, as a precaution, with non-life threatening injuries. Both adults were wearing seatbelts.
There's no word whether speed and/or impairment were factors in the crash. Winslow and State Police continue to investigate.
